Have you been appearing for
competitive exams for more than 2 years but not getting success? Give it a
thought, 2 years is more than enough to master yourself when you have the will
to do it. It’s time for some real preparation with smart planning. Preparation
without motivation, action and dedication is a preparation in vain. I admit,
and all the experts will admit that it is not an easy thing to clear
competitive exams. The competition also gets tougher with the growing figures
of aspirants every year.
Before starting with the tips, I
want to convey the aspirants to know their exam well. And with this, I mean the
exam syllabus, its pattern, notifications and the important topics and
chapters. When you have all the know-how for the exam, start planning
strategies for your preparation.
Some of the upcoming competitive exams include CAT, MAT and SSC. So,
based on these exams, follow these tips to boost your scores.
Ø CAT: Registration has already started
for CAT exam. The closing date for registration is 26th September
2013. Date of exam, most probably, will be from 16th October to 11th
November.
·
Know the exam pattern well. It includes
Quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal ability, logical ability and
general knowledge.
·
It is of utmost importance to know your strength
and work on the weak point first. Plan your strategies based on that. Even if
you don’t attempt all the problems, try to answer the maximum. So you need to
practice a lot at specific time constraint.
·
Prepare a time table and put more focus on the
weak areas, but do not skip out on others too. Sitting whole day in front of
the book without any planning will not help.
·
Create your answering strategies for the exam.
It includes which section you will attempt at first and which at the end, and
which sub sections you will take up first. See the marking schemes and plan how
much time you’ll take in answering one question.

Ø MAT: MAT exam is in the month of
September, most probably on the 1st day for paper based exam and the online
exam is from 7th September onwards.
·
There is not much time for preparation for this
exam. So take up with the area you are comfortable with which you have not
practiced enough and in addition, it must be an important chapter for the exam.
·
Do not try to bang on new things as it will give
you more stress and confusion.
·
Furthermore, keep yourself updated on general
awareness and current affairs.

Ø SSC: SSC Combined Higher Secondary
Level (10+2 CHSL) will be conducted in the month of November on 10th
and 17th.
·
SSC exam is not easy to crack and for those who
are preparing by their own; it is of high priority to make a strong strategy.
·
Time management is most important to attempt 200
questions in 120 min. A lot of practice is necessary to master yourself in time
management.
·
Answer the questions based on accuracy factor as
there will be negative marking in the exam.
·
Do not go for guess methodology for this exam
and try to attempt easy questions first.
